Here at Sea Horse Salt Company we are passionate about food, really good food. Especially the kind kissed by smoke and flame. 

Our proprietary salt smoking process was born out of a love of good smokey BBQ. Sometimes, you just can't fire up the grill or smoker. Other times you want to add a little flavor to something that wouldn't hold up well in a smoker (like vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce). Our smoked salts are perfect for these scenarios. 

Unlike liquid smoke which has acrid, off flavors and no aroma our salts have a big aroma with a balanced, nuanced flavor. Instead of overwhelming food, it enhances it. 

How do we do it? Well, we start with the best sea salt we can find and smoke it using a process born out of scientific knowledge (hey, gotta put those degrees to work!) and well-honed smoking skills. Unlike most "smoked" salts on the market ours are not simply soaked in liquid smoke (or worse... artificial chemicals!). Our only ingredients are salt and smoke from 100% hardwood.

Our method, at its core is not too different from how one might smoke a great brisket or rack of ribs. The salts do smoke a lot longer than anything else you'd put in a smoker though. Some flavors take two weeks to produce!

We think our salt is perfect for slow cooker recipes, dressing up sandwhiches and making vegetables extra special. One of our favorites is just a simple snack of sliced fresh tomatoes sprinkled with a little smoked salt. 

Try it on sweets too! It's actually great in Brownies for a little extra special kick, or sprinkled on caramel candies. A custome favote is good vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel and dusted with a bit of smoked salt. Delicios! 

We've even had some creative folks use it for fancy bar drinks. Think salted rims for your Bloody Mary and even to add depth to a dirty Martini.
